Default Practical practice and doodling~ [c&c if you want to]

So, I'm going to make this my sketchbook here on PKBBS :3
Here I'm going to post anything and everything I feel like posting (within the borders of what's allowed ofc), and try to update often.

Let's start off with a doodle.
It's been a while since I drew something using my tablet.. I've been a bit too busy with school to use it. (I have drawn some things at school, but they've been mostly traced things. BAD REM)

Here~

Well, it's not much - not at all. But I'm going to do better from now on. Anyone got any tips on how to improve anatomy AND get it kind of.. Vivid? IDK, when I draw realistic, it always look stiff and unnatural, but maybe it's just something I have to practice on.

Oh well, why the hell not?
Here are some pictures of a cosplay I made for a Halloween contest:

Anyone knows who this is? : 3

It's not anyone. It's just a costume.

It's a character's costume -,-
If I have to be more specific; Does anyone know which character this costume is based on?

Default Okay, this is just random, mkay?

This sketchbook isn't much for c&c, but more to just compile all my crap somewhere and hopefully manage to show some improvement after a while X3

Here is a bored doodle.. I was going for some anatomy studying, but I lost my flow and.. Well.. I made my girlfriend laugh, at least? ^^'

I'm sorry for spamming with crap (I'm saying this in advance) but I have to post everything in order to keep me going. Or else I'll just get bored, trying to make something worth posting - eventually forgetting all about this forum. I hope I'll find my flow again so I can post something good. And I hope I'm able to put more flow into my lines.. My hands are kind of shaky, so I have a hard time drawing confidently. :'3

Anyway, I love all of you guys in here, and I hope I can learn lots here. ^-^ <3

If you want to improve your anatomy, I would go to you local book store, go to the art section, and look through all the anatomy books. Pick your favorites, and study them like a bible!

Haha nice pose :P

Maybe try getting some pencil/pen sketches up. If you're shaky with a tablet, you're better off practicing on paper first. Even I find sketching with a tablet kind of messy, I always end up erasing a bunch of tumbleweeds towards the end.

Thanks, both of you ~ <3

Fiona: I have "Anatomy for the Artist" (don't remember the author's name) and I like it pretty much.. But I always thought it lacked explanations, sort of.. I guess an artist doesn't really need to know how everything works, but I think it's easier to draw if I know.. And ofc, now I've found a more detailed version of the book - but it's more expencive too. X'3 Oh well, I'll do my best!

Billov: Thanks for the tip. I just wish I had a scanner that could take A3 X'3
I prefer sketching on A3, as I'm able to get more details, and less strained strokes. But yeah, pencils are GO! :3

Ouh, I'll up my drawing of the character the costume was based on, while I'm at it.
I thought I'd try to use my water colors some, to see if I could make them work.. X3 But I really need to practice drawing .. well, things. I need backgrounds. And More experimenting with water color when I have the time. (Y)

Hii~
Today, I've been sketching some more :3
Like, with a pencil and a sketchpad. Not with the tablet.

Reffed from Google Images. :3

First one I found on Google Images, second one's from DeviantArt. I think I lost proportions on the second one.. Anyway I just didn't care to finish.

On my way home from school I made some 5-minute sketches of people on the bus. (The bus was shaking, okay? It's not like I need 5 minutes to draw the back of some man's head. X'3)

For some reason, I have issues making the pictures show up here, so I'll just link to them. :3
3, 4 and 5 are studies from today.
Now I feel like studying firearms a little.

Does anyone have links to good refs? I tried simply googling "guns", "pistols" ect. but I only find profile views.

Test
Spoiler:

As you can see, it works fine for me. Are you sure you're using the direct link to the image?

Anyway, keep up the life studies, you're off to a great start. I want to see the subtle curves of the human figure more accurately portrayed with less line patting. Edit: And try to be bolder in your lines.

And if you can, start trying to render them. But until you grasp shading without smudging a little better, don't try smudging, or it'll look terrible. D;

Pretty decent proportions and everything with the nude studies, but basically what Astrapho already said.

To get full images to show here, when you're writing your message, click "Go advanced"
and then click insert image (the icon with the mountains)
then just paste the image url in.

Or if you upload your images to www.photobucket.com or imageshack
they'll give you the [IMG] links, same thing really.

Well, at first my images did show up. But then they just.. wouldn't o-o
But while I'm at it, how do you make the.. "spoiler"-thing? ^^'

I have a photobucket account, but I wanted to upload them to my art blog for school, and why upload them two times, right? :'3

But yeah, do you have any good links to any gun refs? X3

Talking about my studies, I just began drawing from refs at CharacterDesigns.com so I still don't really have the best technique yet.. Maybe someone has any tips on how to work the lead? o3o

I'm only recently starting to really get the click, so for tips I'd say to observe drawings done by someone with better pencil technique than you, and just keep trying.
