![]() Not so much a tutorial, but shows a quick paint process. Usually I dislike digital painting, but ever since I took a real oil painting class, I've begun to like it a bit more, since colors come more naturally and brush strokes become an important technique. I posted the entire screencap so that you guys can see my work flow because of the time on the bottom.
![]() I always start with a colored background. it helps gauge color better. ![]() The brush is big, I start with general blocking in of colors. Keep in mind the that middle third of the face will usually ALWAYS have more red in it, for light to midtone people. ![]() Usually you should plan out a lightsource, but instead of strong lighting that i had in the man speedpaint, I chose a softer one, to go with the subject more. Here I also repositioned her face, this si the stage where I make most of the decisions regarding the design of the face. I mean this one is pretty generic, but you can see I softenedthe brow ridge from the previous one etc. ![]() More color tweaks and moving onto slightly smaller brushes. Here you really want to pay attention to edge control. Cast shadow = hard edge, form shadow = soft edge. Not so evident in this picture, but something to keep in mind. ![]() Final touches, highlights.

![]() Nice colors, you can spot your palette a mile away. You might want to consider adding a light layer of white for the oils of the skin, its so subtle yet I think it adds a lot.

![]() Wow. It's really great how many of your brush strokes kind of look blurred and establish the shape, but there are also really subtle highlights and small strokes it seems that really sharpen up your painting.

![]() if you're doing it at 100% opacity, how do you blend the colors? I got Photoshop yesterday and I'm putting down the opacity.
