I finally got my diploma in hand, took the Hippocratic oath, and am a super official totally serious medical doctor person now. Next step: world domination.

******* party!

Which one are you?

Also, how do you feel about the apparent cognitive dissonance between designing fictional killing things with helping people.

Also how in hells name do you deal with blood and guts?

So, now you are a doctor and an amazing artist? I bet your feet don't even touch the ground as you walk.

Congrats!

First you nearly pass out, Next time you feel sick, then you just get used to it. It's honestly mostly just an exposure thing and not at all as dramatic as most people think. Some people can't handle it though, we had some classmates who would always avoid surgeries cause they couldn't stomach it.

Congrats on your graduation. If its anything like my brothers after you have graduated, you're placed in a work placement of the hospital of your choosing. Is this the case in germany?

All students are graded (i think nationally) and those who get the highest scores are more likely get their placements that they elected to go to (essentially the best get priority and it works its way down the list).

Any idea what field you would like to specialize in?

Johnway: Well, I'm going to the UK, so i don't get matched, I have to find a job myself. It's a tough situation, but nothing unmanageable. As for specialty I want orthopedics, but there's no guarantee you get what you want. I might end up being an aesthetic proctologist for all I know. :P

Muzz: no-******-way we can't drop the **** bombs?

ah, so the program that you will be going to is not set yet? that's tough.

i don't know how it is in europe, but ortho is THE highest paying MD in the US by median income, competition is crazy steep.

if you're moving to the UK even before matching, I'm guessing you're pretty confident that you'll get what you want though. Best of luck! If you don't happen to make it, are you still able to work as an intern? or are you looking more at a non-physician job? (e.g. research, EMT, etc?)

Do we have to start addressing both of you with the appropriate prefix? I'd be down. I'm also down to make lame doctor jokes.

For doctors who have graduated outside the UK they must enter the Foundation year 2 (mandatory internship year) as a job, not as a matching student. And you continue to specialization by applying and getting a post, not by matching. So yeah, I've got some hustling ahead of me, but it should work out fine.

More or less everywhere really. Competition isn't that high in some countries, but it's quite a competitive field in the UK. I have no guarantee that I'll get it, but I'll do my best.

How about you, you've graduated? What do you want to specialize or are you in already?

Lord dfacto will be sufficient, thank you.

dfacto: graduating in may. I'm on the interview trail right now, applying for residency in neurology (for braaaains)

so how long is that internship? one year? does that mean you've already arranged that at a specific program in UK? Best of luck to ortho applications after that!

Haha, we're on the polar opposite pathways of medicine. You're on the cerebral studious approach, I'm on the human carpentry pathway.

Internship is one year on paper, but as I'm completing it through filling job positions it may take me longer, I hope less than 1.5 years. I don't have anything arranged yet unfortunately, as I'm nothing in the UK right now. Gotta get my paperwork. :/

Dr.Darkreaver and Lord Dfacto once friends and now polar opposites in the land of medical science. What awaits them? Will they become the best of rivals? Find out in a few years on the next episode of Polykarbon MD

And another Doctor D.

Hey Lord dfacto, if you ever end up in my part of the UK, pop by and shake some productivity into me. If you can find me that is. I'm not too bad at hiding.
