The program sounds like a lot of fun. Make a video!

* Bleeaaaacccch * (art barf sound)

Haven't posted anything in a while. Largely because I keep not finishing things. Or that's what I like to think.

In truth, Kerbal Space Program, Rogue Legacy, and DCS: A-10C are probably more to blame.

I got an Intuos4.

Let me explain that statement a bit. Intuos5 seems to have the same performance art-wise, has multi-touch, and is a lot more expensive.

I absolutely hated touch on my Bamboo. And with all these people upgrading to 5s, I figured 4s would be relatively cheap.

I feel like I'm in heaven. Except it's too hot right now for me to think. Therefore glut of unfinished drawings.

Really digging that Crusader-plague doctor guy. I really like the shading, however minimal it may be.

Has it really been almost a month? I'm slipping...

Oh wait. There was that.

Paint with a somewhat different color scheme than my usual palette for skin.

Sculptris, after I a) realized there was a subdivide button, and used it, and b) remembered the 'new spheres for eyeballs, sculpt only the sockets' trick. I've done it before in other 3D programs, dunno why I forgot to apply it to Sculptris.

EDIT:

Some alterations, and then a paintover. Hair brush is jigo's splatter brush tip, configured like a bristle brush. I think it worked pretty well (better than my usual attempts at hair).

just a suggestion on modeling; try to get all your facial features and surface shapes in on as low of topology (polygonal count) as possible. Then subdivide and add details. You'll avoid pinching and whatnot if you work this way.

moof: Thanks for the tip! Pinching is one of my big problems.

Warning! Contains Hitler!
Spoiler:

Caricature class school project.

Currently working on (among other things, but this one looks the nicest so far):

Will probably be my new avatar when it's done.

On a related note, it's REALLY REALLY hard to find good pictures of the L86A2 that aren't from video games or airsoft.

Running list of things looked up for this so far:
- L22A2
- L86 (eventually discarded for something more reasonable)
- .458 SOCOM (ditto)
- IOTV (women's variant)
- M68 CCO
- Surefire foregrip lights (just thought of it, will add later)

cool!

I find if a face is bugging me, I'll use the liquefy tool in photoshop, and just mush things around to explore what I can do with it.

You can learn a lot by just doing that in terms of where you should go.

I also like to just use my finger and on the screen ,cover up the nose, or the eyes, or the mouth, or the nose and mouth, or the eyes and nose... just look at features one at a time so I can see what they look like on their own. Sometimes that tells you some things.

...I just realized I never did post the final of that, even though I changed my avatar to it. Whooooops.

There's the advent of autumn thing in the main art forum, I'll repost here when it's done.

What's funny is that it originally didn't have Halloween in it at all, just Autumn. Then I reread the requirements a bit more closely. Also the trees were originally generic brown trees, until I decided to make it a birch forest, as you can tell by the way-too-wide-to-be-birch trunks.

Watch out for the proportions, especially with the second girl who's got something weird going on with her torso and legs. The faces are the weakest point of both the paintings.

I really dig the color palette and rendering. I love the red sword and cape. Really really good on the values and texture.

Posting so close to a server move was probably a bad idea. I think it ate my post. Ah well.

So, it seems every few weeks or so I move back into sculpting. And I think I'm getting somewhat better. Except for feet. I need to think on how exactly to topologize the feet.

Rigging is still black magic, however.

Cyborg samurai is awesome.

For your face practice, I've kind of noticed you've been using a pretty general eye shape size even though you're going for a more realistic style. I think referencing different eye shapes might help?

My computer fried itself back near the start of November.

Six weeks and an inane amount of troubleshooting later, it's back up. Hopefully for good this time.

Anyways, elf sifu.

Reminds me of something from the later Ace Combat series. The pillars should probably be darker on one side?
