Default Redd's sketchbook .. or something... Update Dec 9

Well, I figured I dig up some of my old sketches and doodles I have done. I dunno .. maybe you all can gimme some pointers on some stuff ::like the hands... ick::

Well here we go .... oh and if you'll notice on one of the pages it was drawn on the back of someting. I was in the middle of an extremely boring training class at work, so for my own sanity and not to fall asleep on the job I grabbed the nearest sheet of paper and well... here it is.....

You need to fix your links, ReddDragon7, so people can drag and drop and reply.

Haha...I like the guy with the hat with a flower in it. It's nice to see you practicing hands and eyes. Oh, and I like that cannon, but better be careful or else you'll shoot that eye out.

this is one a did of a friend while in downtime at work... all in all about 2 1/2 hours.... its from a picture she had on her desk....

And this is some stuff I drew while bored.... no references were used... just seeing what I could do off top of my head... 5-7 minutes on each one.... just drawing without much thought....

hey dude, i agree with geki that the more you use references in your drawings, the better you will get. Do more portraits like the middle one, and you'll train your eye a lot.

keep posting sketches too

Thanks for the critique Geki and Andrew

Yeah, I just wanted to see what I could do on that one.. but I usually will use a reference to draw muscles n stuff, not real good at it.... yet.

It's actually been a while since I did any kind of realism, and to my surprise I actually enjoyed doing it. I think I will start doing more of it. As you all have stated you learn alot from drawing from real life stuff. In that piece alone I learned quite a bit. Drawing realism used to be such a bore.. and a chore for me, but this time.. it was not so bad.. and I actually... enjoyed it... heh.

Good job there. A couple of small things that are noticeable right off is that the shoulder seems very thin and almost sharp (I think this is due to the shading) and I get the feeling there should be a bit more head on the top right (either that or she has a bald patch there). I really like the hair.

Yeah, I see what you mean about that shoulder now that I really look at it.... hmm. As for the hair, in this picture she has one of those water fountain like hairstyles so.. It just looks weird like that.

Thanks for the comments, POFO

Good work so far. Post some more finished stuff.
I would recommend that you look at and practice more realistic eyes, so that your exaggarated ones have a better structure.
