I've been colliding with life bullshit. It's distracted me from art, game dev, life, internet, etc.

In the last year, I've cut off my parents, increased my income by 12x's, paid off my student loans, went to Jamaica & Grand Cayman, and am grappling presently with a chronic sports injury in both knees that's plagued me for almost 2 years.

Busy. Hopefully my personal fires will go out a bit more so I can get back to what I love, which at one point included this place.

What have the rest of you been up to?

I quit my job. Started seriously drawing and painting, and learning Unreal and 3D and stuff. Not much besides that. I want to find a job at a studio, and unsuck my art while at it (the two conditions seem kind of connected). I've got a new coat.

I would like to introduce my fellow carbonites to a fact of life (or a few).

1.Many entities in life are but a baton -a jersey with a number which gets passed on to the next generation.

2.Kung fu, or Art, or Math -that's an art which gets passed on if it is to live. That's why some languages are spoken and others are dead (no speakers -they're probably very good languages, but only live on in literature. Like latin..)

3.No one is looking toward a future for this place. No newbies and the excuse of -it's a different landscape or times have changed can't hold up as excuses for very long.

4. So when we go, that'll be it for this place save for some sporadic lamenting or some insanely cool art from the way we keep getting better at it.

5. It can turn around. Find artists, funnel them here, get them engaged. Sure, we're not the best shiniest site in all the interwebs and we're sorely lacking in lol cats and memes, but y'know..

I've always breezed past shiny sites when I learned there was no core past the attractive shell. We have substance. We can save this place

Or keep eulogizing it to extinction. I know, we're adults (some of us 9.9) we're busy (6.6 lol..) with responsibilities and complexities which dwarf our stardust laden childhoods (ok, so some of those were hell too) but seriously, we don't even whine about gravity. We just walk all over it. We can at least try to ensure PK's future

We need new members and we need to foster them into the community. It's what we were given, it's what we can give. (ok, I get it, not everyone had roses on the way in :/)

Heres a shitty old demo of something i was working on. It sucks though, it was originally for the IPOD, but i got someone to port it to computer and its just not the same.Use mouse scroll to roll and right click i think to double jump. you used to be able to plant the pink flowers by touching the screen.

Im always dreaming of going back to finish that heatwave comic i had on here.

Forums as a medium for exchanging ideas/junk are grossly outdated. That said, social media is a shit-show with little focus and crazy drama. I want the kind of focus we had here with an updated model of some kind.

I've done games for 6 years now. Did the whole starving indie thing. Had games at big things like pax, e3, indiecade, etc. I find myself in a bit of a turning point in a lot of ways, trying to stabilize my personal life while still making $$$.

I want to make my art interactive. I like painting, but after doing dev for so long, I feel like I want to do experimental interactive pieces, possibly for consumption via browser. Programmatic art + painting + animation, if that makes sense. I have the background to do it, just gotta tie things together. :b

For the time being, I'm a front end web developer and do games on the weekends. Made the switch 5 months ago. It pays really well, considering.
