![]() Good Idea. I haven't tried all these, but I've heard people mention them before. Here's a few more I can think of off the top of my head.
2d --------------------- Paint.Net - Requires .net on windows and is improving all the time. At the very least, it has layer support. I think they're working on tablet support. Pixia - Haven't used it before, but designed more for painting, I believe. Inkscape - Free Vector drawing program. Easytoon - basic black and white animations. Alt. Link - http://www.dualtranslations.org/nyuu/easytoon.zip 3d --------------------- Art of Illusion - don't know much about it except that's it's free and for 3d an animation. Maya - learning edition is also free, but puts a watermark on all your images and uses a special fileformat. Also not supposed to use it for commercial stuff. |

![]() Oh man, dude...GIMP's open source. That means there's a LOT of reasons it could not be opening. My guess would be you didn't install the runtime environment, or you didn't get a compiled version of the software; if those things are in order, consult the GIMP FAQs. There's a lot that can go wrong.

![]() go here->http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html -you pretty much want to get everything but the animation package (you'll need the help file too just in case) -I know the gimp site's kinda easy to get lost in so that's why I responded... (try both gtk installations just in case)

I forgot to mention I put the opencanvas script viewer utility on pk a while back, so here's the link for that. It's a separate app that lets you playback wpe files for the 1.1 version. You kind of have to guess at the buttons since it's supposed to be in Japanese, but it's not too hard to figure out. |

![]() Hello, i just came across this website and found the tutorials very useful....
I just wanted to give a heads-up to a nice little FREE tool for converting raster images to vector images (ie: EPS) works with Linux and Windows. It can be found here: http://autotrace.sourceforge.net/ I love want it does - can improve the look of your line art considerably. thanks jdc |

![]() I just want to say that pixia is a very good free lineart program, but a horrid coloring program.

![]() Saw these posted over at conceptart. Figured I would share here, but I haven't really tried them yet.
Sai: http://www.systemax.jp/sai/ All in Japanese and the free version may only be a trial, but some of the people at conceptart seemed to like it. Twisted Brush: http://www.pixarra.com/download.html The 3.5 version is free, but the newer one is not. |
