On a related note if you ever need your line art on its own transparent layer (like so) here is a nice little trick:
  1. Convert mode to Grayscale
  2. Select the layer you line art is on and go to select/load selection
    (note this won't work if your line art is the background layer)
  3. Tick the invert radio button (also Make sure Background Gray is selected as the channel)
  4. Click OK
  5. Create a new layer and fill new selection with desired color
  6. ??????????
  7. Profit
