Not even close to being too much, carry on :)

I agree there's nothing wrong with doing anime if you like it, also agree with joe about the dangers of lacking versatility if you only do anime. But it's not inherent in the style, the reason why a lot of anime looks the same is because that's the only way to get your anime funded, they don't believe people will buy it if it doesn't look like that. At least that's what a producer of Lupin III told us in a talk I attended. If you look at anime like Tekkonkinkreet and Mind Game it's got a very different look, so I think it really is a limitation imposed by industry.

So tl;dr johnway, don't worry about it, keep doing what you feel compelled to.

Commission work for one of my wife's friends.
June, from Katamari Damacy, with masks from various characters.
Tried to stay close to the games' style.

Decided to come up with an Alebrije for my daughter. I asked her to pick three animals, and she said, "Bird, fish, and a bunny."
I added the snake tongue and bat wings myself.
She said his name is Red.

Love the cell shading like style. its always interested me how to do it properly, which colors to pick and such. I know you probably used masking and feathered it to reduce the harsh lines but i could never pull it off for some reason.

Grieverjoe 09-11-2017 09:14 PM

Nope. All brush work.
For color-picking, it's all about the environment. For example, the desert one, I used cooler colors for the shadows, since the shadows are getting some light from the sky, and I used more saturated, yellow-tinted colors for the light.
The last one uses darker, and a bit more saturated colors for the shadows, and slightly lighter but less saturated colors for the lights.
Murry's Colour Constructor is a huge help. :)

Once again, I'm joining other artists in providing artwork for another OCRemix project, this time Chrono Cross.
I wanted to do something Mucha-inspired because you can never have enough Mucha.
I'll keep you guys posted on the project. In the meantime, back to the comic!

An attempt at replicating the Ukiyo-e feel of artists like Kawase Hasui, and Hiroshi Yoshida.
I think I got the gist down, but need to simplify more. Too much reliance on gradients.

Yep. Also, the 1 year mark passed by. Happy one year to my comic!

For a guy who has as much trouble with hands like me, I sure love to call attention to them, don’t I?

Is Overwatch still cool? :D I've seen plenty of Overwatch/Ghibli inspired art, but not of the OW characters in a Ghibli style, so I thought I'd blaze that path. I'm planning on doing all current characters, but I don't have a schedule in mind for them, so keep an eye out!
