Should I run it?
threes + kiyoshi: working on it. -I haven't had too much time to practice so idk how long it might actually take to match the two skills :/

I title this one: "Should I run it?"

bad cheeze

Threes 03-31-2012 05:54 PM

try making the brushes more saturated and less blendy, the figures will be more identifiable :D

Dwee dee(3d) 04-02-2012 03:19 PM

lol -kay. Practicing now.

Still playing catchup with my 2d to 3d like you suggested, Threes.

I'll say this though, it's hard getting definition cause coming across as flat's a close neighbor :D.

You know if your pieces are hard to read because of how simple/amateur they look then there are things you need to work over obviously. Your 3d stuff seems to have got better but your 2d stuff has stayed quite mediocre for some time being now juding by this thread progression.

You really need to put more effort into references regardless of how much of a bore/chore they are.

On the flip side nothing wrong with your imagination at least. Good topic diversity from drawing to drawing.

Dwee dee(3d) 04-02-2012 04:48 PM

Noted. 3d's just geometry. 2d's that and more. So far I've managed to draw without using lines, but you're right about the references. These do look a *bit* sloppy. I'm going to experiment with a few different workflows to see what looks crisp enough. -yes, I'll study refs before hand too.

Well, be back in a bit *goes on possible haitus to practice* (beats flooding the forum with more of the same, but I'll read more tips, practice and respond) Thanks.

slight improvement
Trying to fix a whole bunch of things at once during some free time.

wolverine attempt.

edit x2:
batman scribble.

pencil break

I like that your work is very free and expressionistic, but you have been a member her for 7 years so you should know the drill. Practice anatomy, practice perspective , practice foreshortening and draw from life.

Also I would recommend not starting with a white BG its much easier to get the colors right if you start with a grey canvas

Dwee dee(3d) 04-29-2012 02:42 PM

kay. I played with the grey bg idea, but I'm not sure how that's turning out. As for the 2d, I've been stuck in 3d land too long, and I'm still adjusting with the perspective, anatomy bits. You never think about that stuff in 3d so it just fades over time.

I guess here's my latest:

Threes 04-29-2012 10:06 PM

some good improvement, try some life and ref studies in the same fashion

you are getting better, but you need to think about lightsource much earlier in the drawing process, your highlights are all over the place.
you should have the lighting planned out before you start adding details
heres a quick draw over with a lighting example

you could try drawing from http://www.posemaniacs.com/ or http://www.lovecastle.org/draw/ if you are finding it hard to find a subject matter... but nothing beats RL

I know this is a sketchbook so let me know if theis c&c is annoying and I'll stop

Dwee dee(3d) 05-03-2012 03:53 PM

no I don't mind c+c at all.

Afraid the light source consideration got defenestrated this time. Your rendition looks kinda kuddly -not that I mind it. I'll try playing with lights some, but for now I'm still on the life drawing episode.

Dwee dee(3d) 07-12-2014 03:47 PM

Found my pen: now where was I?
I've been drawing, I just have not been posting as much. I came across this idea that maybe I could dab with a random logo design of some sort. Here's a taste. (sorry; it's actually the whole main course . )

~messed up on the sig; That's me on the old wings3d forum.
