I used to draw every day like you, but then I took a baby to the life.

Seriously, though, it's good to see you back. It's interesting how our definitions of 'sucking' differ, as I see your work, and am still blown away by it.
Still, though: practice is something every one of us can benefit from.
Good luck. :)

Jigo 03-21-2013 01:18 AM

Man, you just keep getting better and better. Awesome stuff, awesome plan.

Lamb 03-21-2013 02:46 AM

Those are all very cool! You're amazingly succesful in catching every texture and material that gets tossed at you.

SE?

astrapho 03-22-2013 11:41 AM

@joe: Definitely :) awww thanks for the encouragement haha.
@Jigo: :'D thanks! haha gonna hopefully unsuck by the end of this.

Strong work, astrapho. How long do you spend on these?

Alucard1515 03-22-2013 11:16 PM

Hey, these are really nice! I like how confident your brush strokes look.

Threes 03-25-2013 09:01 PM

you have improved vastly since the time i first met you on here, and I love your attitude toward improvement. very inspiring to newbies and old-pro's alike.

Keep it up

astrapho 03-26-2013 10:13 AM

@XChris: Thanks :) They vary from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours and more, but I never cross 2 hours because if I do I'd oversleep work everyday hahaha.
@Alucard: Thanks :D
@Threes: That's really encouraging to hear :D especially since I don't feel my improvement at all lol, it just never gets easier man >.>

8. Here's a sketch I did which I will finish one of these days

I still find it really challenging to polish one of these, I have a lot of these half complete sketches lying around because I just kind of give up halfway :S we'll see...

Pen and ink, finding out the hard way that my pen was not waterproof

Sorry lamb, I'll see if I can squeeze in a quick one during downtime at work lol!

Lamb 03-26-2013 11:40 AM

I really like the pen and ink drawing. Don't worry too much, it looks badass as ever even if the pen wasn't waterproof.

astrapho 03-27-2013 10:20 AM

@Random: well phew :3 was just looking at the pen ink smearing and I was like shiiiit I'm an idiot lol!!

Ponies again, can't escape from the ponies man

Sooo I'm trying to work on characters. Codeword for my god I'm too tired to paint so I will sketch stuff instead. I've got this kid character I'm trying to design.

9, 10, 11, 12

astrapho 04-01-2013 06:03 PM

I was putting off this one for the longest time because it was so intimidating >.< Did the rough lines, stared at it, creyed and went to bed.

Professor Az 04-02-2013 11:29 AM

I'm so loving the blueline work. Lovin' it, I tell you.

astrapho 04-02-2013 11:31 AM

Hehe thanks Az. xD

So I continued, and then I got frozen up with all the details and stuff and destroyed it, so I reverted to an earlier save and here it is. My god I am terrible at buildings!!!

astrapho 04-03-2013 01:52 AM

Lmao here's something else to make up for the suck

astrapho 04-04-2013 10:51 AM

My glorious pic for today

15.

just kidding

I started with the first one as the sketch though..... not recommended, it was such a bitch because I didn't work it out beforehand, I kinda just threw up my arms and gave up after reaching this stage because I didn't think about the door designs and it's gonna take ages ;A;

Alucard1515 04-04-2013 11:31 AM

I really like your characters, they're very expressive.

I like this latest piece, especially the grass and flowers in the foreground. They're obviously layed in very quickly, but it reads very effectively. The style kind of reminds me of the backgrounds on Samurai Jack or the creator's other work.

mandelak 04-05-2013 04:38 AM

daaang these are bloody amazing dude. loving that last one too.

astrapho 04-06-2013 01:24 PM

@Alucard: Thanks :D Yeah I was really influenced by that. And Erwin Madrid's stuff, his backgrounds are fabulous *A*
@man: thanks :D

yeeeaaaahh watching too much rite of spring
